Women in Science? At Merck, Absolutely

Women scientists have historically been underrepresented in the field of process research and development — the space between drug discovery and manufacturing. However, over the past seven years, the percentage of women on Merck’s small molecule process research & development (SM PR&D) team has nearly doubled and continues to grow.

My Quest Story - Mark Hamilton

I’ve spent most of my career working in an industry where lives are on the line. Prior to coming to Quest Diagnostics, I worked in transportation in the airline industry as a ramp agent. My job responsibilities included using body signals to communicate with the pilot to direct planes—we had to say a lot to each other without saying a word. I also managed loading, stowing, and unloading of cargo, mail, and baggage. So, I was used to handling valuable cargo.

Xinfang Li’s job is all about making connections.

As the Senior Regional EHS manager for Kohler China and Asia Pacific, she builds relationships, optimizes processes, and shares continuous improvement ideas amongst Environmental, Health, and Safety teams across the region.

But she also uses these connections to follow another passion: sustainable living.
