Albertsons Companies Foundation Partners With Non-Profit Organizations to Help 98,000 Families As Part of the USDA’s Summer EBT Program

This past summer, the Albertsons Companies Foundation, in collaboration with a coalition of leading non-profit organizations, launched a campaign aimed at tackling childhood hunger by raising awareness and boosting participation in the USDA’s Summer EBT program. The initiative also supported the launch of a dedicated website SummerEBT.org, which received more than 171,000 visits and helped 98,000 families complete screeners to determine their program eligibility.

More Than Half of Sudan Needs Urgent Aid; 11 Million People Displaced

December 17, 2024 /3BL/ - More than half of Sudan’s population, or 26 million people, now urgently need humanitarian assistance to survive, an increase of 38% since April 2023, when conflict broke out between the Sudanese Army and Rapid Support Forces. Famine-like conditions have been detected in parts of the country. The situation is particularly dire in the regions of Central Darfur and South Kordofan, where 68% and 58% of the population, respectively, are severely food insecure.

Project Gift Collects More Than 5,000 Toys To Support Local Children

This holiday season will be much brighter for children in the west Georgia area following the response to Southwire’s annual toy drive in Carrollton, Ga.

With support from Southwire’s Project GIFT volunteers, team members, community partners and local residents, the event collected more than 5,000 toys — donating them to Carroll County Toys for Tots, which works to benefit children in west Georgia. 

Storm Support Teams Assist Utilities After Back-to-Back Hurricanes

In late September and early October, the Southeastern U.S. endured two significant severe weather events: Hurricane Helene, followed quickly by Hurricane Milton. These back-to-back storms caused tremendous damage to the power infrastructure across multiple states. Hundreds of Leidos team members volunteered to help impacted utilities perform vital damage assessments to ensure that electric service was restored to these hard-hit communities.
