ISO 26000 - so what?

The CEO of CSR Company International took part in ISO 26000 week in Geneva, Switzerland organized by the Development and Training Services of ISO. 300 participants from about 70 countries were exchanging their experience on ISO 26000:2010, Guidance on social responsibility.

The ISO 26000 forum, attended from representatives of the private and public sectors, including national standards bodies, was an opportunity to share experience, best practice and lessons learned, as well as to highlight areas for improvement.

As the ISO 26000 guidance standard on social responsibility reaches its second anniversary, ISO Secretary-General, Rob Steele, challenged participants at the open forum in Geneva, Switzerland, to consider what has been done so far, and where the road should take us next, by asking, "So what?".

The objective of the forum was not to decide amendments to ISO 26000, or new work, but to provide ideas to the former joint secretariat of the ISO Working Group on Social Responsibility, comprising ISO members SIS (Sweden) and ABNT (Brazil), and through them to the ISO 26000 Post Publication Organization (PPO) for advice.
